"Bird Watch"
So Buddy, the cat, like to sit on his stool and watch the birds - so far he has been a good boy and hasn't jumped on the cabinets. We have 2 bird feeders and a seed bell there. The trees are huge old cedars about 40' tall so we have lots of birds. This picture was taken at noon today and the "flash" of white you can see is the snow covered yard - the trees form a canopy. Buddy thinks he's a "people" and sits on his stool when I work in the kitchen. He also has a death wish- wraps his paws around the rocking chair and cuddles it as he lays under it.

The cardinals were flitting from
branch to branch this morning.
Viewed them from the upstairs
sitting room. God's creatures,
so beautiful in their bright feathered coats.

Buddy looks like he is a real character! But then again, what cat isn't?
Do the cardinals stay all winter, Petra?
Yeah, Buddy is a character all right- and he thinks he's a people! He has been a Godsend for Wayne and I mean that reverently.
Yes, the cardinals seem content here. We have one that meets up
with a bluejay every spring and
they fly everywhere together....the
oddest of pals but neat to see.
Am looking forward to the return
of all the spring birds...robins,
the wee bright yellow and green
finches.....
I have seen the most fascinating birds since moving out here to the farm! We have a snowy owl who (pun intended!) lives in the barn and hunts at night. We have seen an increase in the eagle population due to a program in the forest preserve, and the red-tailed hawk who I see almost every morning omn my walk is stunning! But of course, those winter and spring little feathered friends are always a welcome sight.
Trish- a few years ago I saw a snow white owl perched on a telephone pole- I nearly drove into the pole! Saw him(her) once more and never again.
Has anyone seen a robin, yet?
