Perfect Dream Wife

A Discovery

I should read Blogger updates more often! If you go to your profile and click on it, Blogger will bring up bloggers with similar interests as you have. So far, no more gross p*on sites.

What really bothered me was that the p*on site kept rolling by about every 6 "next blog" - is blogger behind that, do they know and feel it will generate more for them - and, why do the same 10 blogs keep repeating, p*on or not?

I'm not the brightest blogger star but I'd like the answers.

And thank you, Blogger, for the profile way - so far, no p*on.

Lost and Found at the SPCA

As we packed our bundle of joy into the car, the lady at the SPCA said, "I think I forgot something."

Four years later I realize she was right - he left his voice behind! Buddy, the cat, has the most pitiful lack of "meow" I've ever heard. Sometimes the poor fellow meows and nothing comes out - his lower teeth show and his big golden eyes plead for understanding. I guess we're lucky in a way as my SIL had a cat which talked - nonstop! (And it was male, ha,ha,ha) Drove them crazy. We loved it's talking as it was very unique but I guess it would grate after a bit.

Anyway, do we get some kind of price adjustment?:)

What a Difference a Week Makes - - -

So I'm sitting here in a fleece top cuddled up to my coffee mug and the cat! It's very cool in the mornings now. We wake up to 15 degree temps and 22 in the house.

Did the Costco trip yesterday about 6pm - very good time to go cause "who goes Costco shopping on a Friday night??" Oh, yeah, we're boring, we do:) Anyway, got a lot of stuff off my lists and I'm ready for anything, ha,ha. Butter for Christmas baking!

Very strange to listen to Christmas CD's playing in August and as a protest I wouldn't go look at them - now September is another story. Even my Man commented it was weird and just as he said that, we rounded a corner and ran into a 5' tall animated Halloween witch - scared me half to death. That made his day! (As I've said, doesn't take much to entertain us.) I was just regaining my compose when she let out her cackle.

We drowned our sorrows over 2 berry sundaes - best purchase of the evening - - -Have you had a Costco Sundae?? They beat DQ - hands down - I only get hot chocolate fudge sundaes at DQ. Picky about my treats, you know.

Dog Jury

I guess everyone has seen this cartoon by now - tragically sad story.

Thursday, August 23, 2007

My Man celebrated his birthday August 11th and I had lots of gifts for him but the one gift I wanted eluded me. For quite a while I've been searching for a "perfect" sized plastic container for all his BBQ paraphernalia. Couldn't find just the right one so after he opened gifts, told him about it.

We walked into Walmart Monday and guess what - one perfect container, only one left. Now it doesn't take much to make me happy so I'm all excited to find it. Just as a lady walked past us, I mentioned that this was what I had been wanting for his birthday. She gave me a look of disdain! So, I smiled at her and said no more extravagant gifts for him next year. Think she got the point. Old battle ax:)

Honda Civic Confusion - - -

So the warranty is now over for our Honda Civic - paid for life time oil changes so arrive at the drive in service desk. "Yes, Jean, your due for your oil change and blah, blah to do with the air conditioner."

OK, I can live with that. What I expected to be a free visit now is $70. Still can live with that.
Told him I would bring the car in for 56,000 km servicing in Oct. when we mount the winter tires. (Yes, October, we live in Canada:) He said no service is required?? (There was a little sticker in the window saying bring your wallet and car at 56,000.)

Couldn't tell me when the studded tires were legally able to be mounted. Suggested I call ICBC, our friendly neighborhood insurer. Uh, you're the service manager and I'm just a non-mechanical wild lady driver. Seems to me you should know. I will ask my BIL.

But the reason I sat down to whine and complain was: why is there nothing to do now that that warranty is over?? I was paying $400. plus several times a year (depending on mileage) to keep warranty valid. Now it's over, I'm told I need nothing. Why did I need so much 4 months ago?? Do I smell a rat?

Could some guy (or mechanical woman) please explain - was I just getting ripped off?

"I am Woman Hear Me Roar" - remember Helen Reddy?? I'll be roaring if it was a rip off.

Next Blog

So I'm not a prude but come on, I'm disgusted when I hit next blog searching for "normal" blogs. Uh, what's with that - I'm disgusted - Blogger says "notify us" - uh, if enough people complain we''ll do something. You can't tell me they don't know this garbage exists and they condone it - -

What's your opinion?

Starry, Starry Nights

Diamonds large and small sprinkle the black canvass which arches low over head.
Some stars appear huge while others twinkle delicately. As I stand in our country driveway, seems I could pluck one to enjoy.

Demolition Wasn't on the List - - -

Well, I have my lists made for August thru December! August has 25 items and got 3 things off it today - only 22 to go! Bleech!

Actually, hope you don't think I'm too weird but do most of it myself and have to start early and work away at things. Today the kitchen table and chairs were scrubbed and polished - the chrome part. Also, I took all the towels out of the downstairs bath and sorted them. Found treasures! One thing is a lovely jade color soap dish which I bought years ago and "lost". Happily carried it upstairs and dropped it on the floor - a 1000 pieces later - it doesn't pay to houseclean.

Worried I was a walking wrecker, I decided to sort the closet hangers and tossed so many - some people in my family will not believe that but I actually tossed them - into the recycling bag!

Off to do chore #4 - have to choose something unbreakable:)

Yeah, the kitchen cabinets are Murphied! I love that stuff. Tonight I planned to only do the lower ones but got a burst of energy and voila! Done til next year - oh, that's music to my ears.

The greatest pleasure is ticking off another job on my clip board. Yeah!

Clothes Line!

I love hanging our linens out! Just stepped out to a warm day with a strong breeze - I don't hang clothing out as hate those "clothes pin marks" but towel, sheets, etc. Love the wonderful fragrance when I bring them in.

Dad welded me a clothes line years ago and when we sold the house, I asked the lady if I could return in April after the yard thawed. She agreed but in April refused to let me have the line! I would have paid her for a new one but "no go". Of course, everyone said we should have had it in writing - good grief. Our word is our bond but I guess not everyone.

Anyway, there is a happy ending! Mom no longer used her line (which Dad had made) so I do have a good one - just not the same. I often wondered if she used it or tossed it in the landfill or sold it or - - -

School Days, School Days - - -

No, not going back to school but all these store flyers bring back memories. I loved, loved, loved shopping for the kids' school stuff. We would have a list from the school and it simplified life - roar around the stores, get what was required and pizza time!

The last day of school and first day were half days so we always celebrated by going for pizza - to Earl's on Top!

Hay, there!

So it doesn't take much to make my heart sing - we're cruising along our country road and I spy a hay bale in the ditch! A gift from above. Forget diamonds, ladies. If you're a gardener, this is diamonds.

I didn't realize they are heavy til I tried to pull it out of the trunk! So I'm forever indebted to you, Hon.

I promise that next time, we'll have the truck to toss any stray bales into, hee, hee. The tarp, compost fork and a shovel are all neatly (hidden) wrapped behind the seat. Remember that free hay they were giving away, then the free manure! No, don't worry - it's all been taken by some other lucky gardener but our day will come. I promise and you hope not.

Happy Birthday, Hon!

Wishing you the happiest birthday! Words fail me when I try to write what you mean to me. Over the years you have just been the most thoughtful, kind person. I love your humor and I love you.
Tonight we'll sit out on the deck and hitch a dream to the first star you see. xx oo

Our Anniversary

Today we celebrate 42 years. What a journey -

I wouldn't trade you for the world!

Bleach boo boo

Don't you just hate it! I have 4 lovely bleach marks on my navy T-shirt. As of today, I resolve to only use wipes on the counters. Uh, no, it's not the first time:)

The wipes are more effective anyway. When we go on holidays, take a canister of Lysol wipes to "do our room" - I know, I'm a bit freaky about things like that. In washrooms, I use the towel to turn the taps on and off and open the door. I could go on and on - as people who know me would attest to, ha, ha.

Anyway, after heat, heat, heat it's freezing here - well, it's 15 in the morn (60-ish). Is she ever happy?

I'm off to search for my long johns - have a good Friday, Everyone!

A Change in the Morn - - -

This morn I grabbed the paper at 9am and the air was cool! What a change from the last months. Often I sit at the to enjoy my coffee and the headlines - today I would have needed a sweater.
The temp was 15C or about 60F - actually it's a pleasant feeling. We have A/C and very grateful for it but I look forward to a favorite season coming up.

As I sit and think about it, there is a beautiful tree just a bit down from us - come fall it's a spectacular golden color. Will have to keep the camera handy.

What did we do without digitals - although I still keep my 35 handy - a bit of old school left in me.

Have a great day, Everyone.

A Smile Would Be Nice - - -

So we are having "issues" with our house insurance company. We have a certified wood burning stove downstairs which we both love. Several years ago this self same insurance company was unhappy with our current stove so we bought a top of the line stove. "Oh, holy Insurance Manager, are you happy now?" "What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" She is not happy. So we take all the info in to her, email pics of it and await with trembling knees for her verdict.

This lady never smiles, she has what I guess you would call a "sour" face. She told me on the phone my premiums would be so much less if we tossed the NEW stove. Again - What?????? So we go humbly to her sanctum and I asked what our premiums would be if we toss it - she mulled around and shuffled papers and said there'd be NO difference! Sorry, this company doesn't charge for a wood stove.

In April 08 I will have a new insurer. There was more but you're probably bored to sleep already:)

Lost Picture Opportunity

I was adjusting a sprinkler when a hummer flew up to the zinnias - about 3' away from me. What a great pic that would have been! The zinnias are deep rose and pink - hummer looked so nice with them.

We got 3 of the 4 lawns mowed so happy in our world. Wonderful breeze so the towels dried in a hurry. Brought the laundry in and the computer grabbed my sleeve so here I am.

Lilies in the Pool Bed

There's a Feeling in the Air - - -

I know it's only the first week of August but there's a"feeling" in the air - a feeling of Fall. So, in a panic I ran to the garden and yard taking pics as if to stop it. (Plus, we leave our little truck outside and it's covered in dew in the morn - not something I like to see:)

The tomatoes are blushing now and soon I'll be making Chow and chutney's, yum!

Hummers are still darting around - once they go, I grab my gloves and scarf. Well, they know when to pack up and fly South. Sadly, one year we had a hummer around in November. There was a dusting of snow so I hope he made it out safely. After that incident, I strip my annuals out of the pots and beds. He found a lonely snapdragon which had survived the frost and was hoping to feed there.

Last year I made "Pear Mincemeat" - the most delicious thing I ever tasted! So mellow. Also, make my long standing recipe but the pear mincemeat is a delicate treat. I will post both recipes. We do not put suet (yuck) in ours and it's wonderful.

Anyway, gabby person that I am, forgot to say, this pic of the pink poppy is why I posted. Thanks to the wind or a bird, we enjoyed these beauties all summer. The lilies are really making a show now, also.

Just looked out and a neighbor's mountain ash is full of berries - where are my gloves and scarf!?

No Pockets!

Did you ever notice mens T's often don't have pockets? Saves time, money making the shirt and some guys like a smooth look.

My Man hates a shirt without a pocket - oh, big deal - just kidding because -

Then, I buy capris - no pocket! So I'm mowing the lawn with my cell tucked in my bra - on vibrate! Why, yes, my right breast looks a bit different - why would you ask?? It's my cell phone!

Anyway, now I have a wee bit of empathy for him.

Cruise, Anyone?

So our neighbors just came to say good bye and leave keys and emergency numbers. They leave Saturday morn for their Alaskan cruise.

The weather is about 13 so they have packed a mixed bag - no pun intended!

S&R and bro have all cruised. We haven't.

Has anyone cruised and would you go again?

Tow Truck Image - - -

So much to the chagrin of guests, I forget myself and rock Buddy. (No, he's not our Baby, he's our cat!)

Anyway, this morn I swooped him up and sat in the kitchen rocker, mind soaring off to long ago times. Set Buddy down and he took a peculiar stance and turned around and looked at me - with a look. You strange cat - actually, I thought he was luring me to his food dish - I kind of pushed him away and he was "stuck". Then I realized I was sitting on his tail.

It was so funny as he resembled a car lifted off it's wheels, uh, paws, by a tow truck. Well, I thought it was funny, Buddy. Why, yes, I do have a good imagination.
