Has anyone experience using metal detectors? I thought it may be a fun way to get my Man out in the air and of course, in the process, find my fortune:)
What do I have to spend and is it OK to buy second hand for something like this?

a neighbour and his wife both have
metal detectors and go out once in a while. Favourite haunts are the
beach and public parks. Cannot tell
you the price, but am sure they come in various price ranges. They
have one that even shows them what
is under the ground.....

As much as I love to be alone in the woods, I wish my husband would join me once in a while. One Christmas he asked for a metal detector so I bought one not really knowing a thing about them. I think I spent about $300 and that was the higher end of mid-range.
He hasn't used it much yet (in 3+ years!) but every so often he'll come along on one of my wanderings with it. There hasn't been any buried treasure yet, but I think he likes looking!
Sounds good - glad to hear a price range as I had no idea what to spend.I think it's a good past time on a walk in woods or beach. Who knows what a person may find.
