Please share your memorable cooking blunder - I have a couple that really stand out in my mind.
Mom and Grandma were good cooks but omitted a couple important facts in 2 recipes I tried to duplicate. Recently married, I invited my Man's bro and his wife (one one of my best friends) over for dinner. We had spent the afternoon together at a stampede and came home ravenous. No problem, baked beans in the oven.
Well, we had a pot full of marbles! No one told me to soak the beans. Hey, I'm a new bride here.
Of course they were inedible so we treated them for dinner out. Came home for dessert which was my apple pie! No one told me to heap the apples - a big, concave apple pie. Edible.

Made pancakes in my young bride
days (from scratch) that rivalled
rubber tires. Methinks I beat them to death before pouring into
the pan. Have since learned that a
few lumps are okay!
