So last August, MiHwa sent these two plates to us for our anniversary! They are very delicate in design and a soft aqua - almost pearl quality.
Anyway, I haven't used them- I'm afraid to! I think we should start but just for things like pasta salad - I'm afraid of scratching them. You know me "saving them for good".

Why oh why do we do that "Saving them for good" thing??? I tend to do the same thing, altho I am trying to get over that. Why should we save them for someone else to use and enjoy??Dishes, underclothes, tea towels, lovely rings and other jewellery, linens, comforters, etc. Have you read the email about a husband that takes a beautiful slip out of a box, and he says "She was saving this for a special time and I guess this is it" as he was trying to decide what to take to the funeral home for his wife to be buried in? When we went through my mother'in'laws belongings after she had died, we found all kinds of beautiful slips, nightgowns, jewellery, and china that were never used. I guess that's when I started using my special things more often.
Thanks, Elaine, I better bust out the good stuff, too! I'm so bad it's a joke in our family. With me, a lot of my good chna, etc. doesn't go in DW so it's a no-go. May sell it.
If you're going to sell it, you might as well use it enjoy it and put it in the dw. Then when the gold comes off (if it does) you can still sell it. At least that's been my theory for my china and crystal the last few years. I think that I'll only be around for another few years anyway, so why not enjoy it???
has the gold "lasted?"
The gold on even the very china will slowly fade, will take some
time but the dishwasher's extreme
hot water and harsh soap does
have some effect. I say use the
dishes, pretty teacups, Waterford
crystal, etc. The gorgeous silk
pygamas hidden between tissue
paper....wear them. Your lovely pearls...wear them. Why should
the velvet box be the only place
these lovely gems adorn!!!!!
